This is the pleasant type of community where backyard BBQs liven up summer nights, kids giggle as they race under sprinklers, and everyone comes out for the first snow of the season. Family and friends gather at the movie theater, parks, village center, restaurants, arcades, and ice-cream shops, enjoying the kinship of the neighborhood.

Grab your neighbors and watch the big game at Division Street Tap, a beloved local watering hole with great apps and elevated bar food. Check out their patio in warmer months.

Things to Do

With Oak Park Country Club and Thatcher Woods to the east, Melrose Park has its fair share of green space. Members of the private Oak Park club are treated to an 18-hole golf course, recently renovated swimming pool, tennis complex, and skeet and trap facility in the fall and winter months. Members come to relax, golf, socialize with family and friends.

To the south of the country club, Thatcher Woods is a 245-acre preserve with a diverse range of bird and plant life along the Des Plaines River. Amidst the floodplain forest, savanna, and prairie, it’s common to spot wildlife and a plethora of bird species. Walk the primitive trails that connect the preserve to the Trailside Museum of Natural History. Learn more about the natural and cultural history of the area and visit the nature center, open year-round.

Melrose Park residents love to gather, and the Taste of Melrose Park is no exception. Join friends and neighbors as you sample the delicacies of local restaurateurs. Or, get to know fellow residents in a class, senior program, or youth activity through the Veterans Park District.
